The sun does set, similar to how it rose
My thoughts take a turn down a familiar road
Oh, what a life, that I am blessed to live
Ever so grateful for the chances it gives
I do often wander, though, as the stars appear
back to that moment, in October of last year (2019)
I learned how close to death that I came
My world then tilted, and the floor went away
Shocked was an understatement, fear was felt
I laughed to hide the pain of the cards that I was dealt
An ugly hand, and I just wanted to fold
but, surrounded by family, I had to be bold
A lifetime of sickness, and medicines, too
Though, day after day, it gets easier to chew
So, I choke down the pills, and hold back the tears
Thankful to the Goddesses that I am still here
As the sun does set on a beautiful day
I think back to the sunrise that paved the way
