Alone amidst dark waters
Floating in liquid abyss

Side to side I’m rocked
Lulled into forlorn misery
.
Each demon that I possess
or, each demon that possesses me
Appears amongst the surface
.
Surrounded in inky blackness
.
Silently, they stare
As I lie within stillness
.
Eyes glow like burning embers
I can feel them assess each breath
.
They hone in on my heart
The ~t h u d~ I can’t control
I can hear them smile
.
Gently lapping waves transform
A cyclone of my afflictions, is born
.
Higher is grows
Stronger it builds
Until I’m swept beneath its vortex
.
Swallowed by my fears
Consumed by non-existent self-worth
.
Overthinking, once again
This is my anxiety
.
To it, I am nothing more
than a nameless face
