The burn,
it shakes me
to my core-

Deeper, the
sharp end, digs
into my skin-

Pushing outward,
until I can see
the tip-

Clasping it,
makes me
jerk-

As the burn
scatters over
my skin, again-

Until, finally,
slowly, tediously
it is pulled free-

A dull ache
replaces the
intense burn-

Let the
healing process
begin-
